• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

/usr/local/psa missing

New Pleskian
This morning I hit an issue that the /usr/local/psa didn't exist any more.

I first noticed it when I tried to update one of the apache config files and run:

`$ /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all`

Eventually it turns out that an automatic update of Plesk failed this morning at a stage when all the /usr/local/psa directories and also /etc/init.d/psa directories had been removed.

Initially I had no idea what was wrong (and google searches for '/usr/local/psa missing' bring up nothing), but thanks to this post: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=101183 it at least points to the failed upgrade.

Its annoying that you get no email notification of the upgrade failing.

If the upgrade fails in an expected manner it actually sends out mail about the fail, but seems yours was an exception where it just mysteriously died ..

Indeed, it does seem that something fairly fundamental went wrong. I've posted a full description of the problem in a separate thread: [thread]261227[/thread].

This happened to me yesterday (July 17th) and I restored from a snapshot backup once I saw that the directory was gone thinking that it was a lingering issue from a disk failure and not wanting to spend much time on it. Happened again this morning at the same exact time.

Has anyone been in contact with Parallels support to see what they have to say?

Hi Igor,

Brialliant, thanks for the fix. Does this mean that if the system is restored to before the old update was applied, then now the auto-update should work?
