  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

webmail, need some advice

JohanSki

Basic Pleskian
Hello,

I already asked a similar question yesterday. A lot of views but no response, so I think I wasn't very clear. I'm going to try it again.

Recently I started hosting a VPS and some domains. On the VPS, Plesk 12 in pre-installed. I used an A-record to link the domains to the VPS. This all works fine.

There is 1 problem though. The hosting company doesn't offer the option to create subdomains.

I noticed that Plesk uses a subdomain for webmail, like webmail.mydomain.com. Since I can't create a subdomain, this feature will not work. Is there a workaround to access webmail without using a subdomain? Is there perhaps an option to disable the use of subdomains? Or ... am I forced to look for a new hosting company (I hope not since the one I'm using offers a lot, for a fair price ... except the subdomains that is).

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hi JohanSki,

the SEARCH function of this forum is quite powerfull and you would have found a thread like "Webmail question", which could answer your question, how to manage to access webmail over domain.com/webmail for example.
