which version to use?

I am running CENTOS Enterprise 4.6 i686 on virtuozzo - WHM X v3.1.0

should I download sitebuilder for CentOS 4.3 (x86_64) ...or
should I download sitebuilder for CentOS 4.3 (i386)

Once downloaded, is installing from tarball the best method for that system?

As you have 32bit platform you should use CentOS 4.3 (i386) build. Actually, if you have container from Virtuozzo it is suggested to install Sitebuilder on that container from templates.
